Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

Surgery is just the beginning of your recovery. Post-surgical physiotherapy is essential for regaining strength, movement, and function — and for ensuring you get the best possible outcome from your procedure.

Why Post-Surgical Rehab Is Essential

After orthopaedic surgery, your body needs guided rehabilitation to recover fully. Without it, you may develop stiffness, weakness, compensatory movement patterns, or fail to regain the function you had before. Whether you have had a total knee or hip replacement, ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, spinal surgery, or any other orthopaedic procedure, a structured rehabilitation programme significantly improves outcomes. Research consistently shows that patients who complete a physiotherapy programme after surgery recover faster and achieve better long-term results.

Your Recovery Programme

I develop phased rehabilitation programmes based on the specific surgical procedure, your surgeon's protocol, and your individual needs and goals. In the early stages, the focus is on managing pain and swelling, protecting the surgical repair, and gently restoring movement. As you progress, we build strength, improve balance and coordination, and work towards returning to your daily activities and hobbies. For home visit patients, the convenience of receiving treatment at home is particularly valuable in the early post-operative period when travel can be difficult.
